I have always drawn and painted whilst pursuing a career in health care and the Criminal Justice Service in which teaching was a significant part of my role. Whilst my family was young, I studied photography at Croydon Art College. In the last twenty years I have developed and focused on painting attending a yearlong ‘Defining Practice’ course at Newlyn School of Art. I gain personal satisfaction and challenge from developing my own art practice on an on-going basis which includes attending workshops and tutorials and importantly taking opportunities to see the work of and talk with other artists.
My preferred and main medium is oil, but I also produce work in watercolour, mixed media and acrylic. I am a landscape painter and a figurative painter capturing a variety of narratives both personal and historic.
I am an active exhibiting member of SAC, Totnes and Dartington Open Studios, and the Southwest Academy of Art. I regularly take part in group and solo shows at Birdwood Gallery, Totnes. My work has been shown widely in the southwest and I have had my work exhibited at the Society of Woman Artists shows in London and the Royal West of England Academy.
In 2025 I was selected for membership of The Southwest Academy (SWAc).
I have taught both adults and children in broad range of teaching situations, workshops, courses, community events and on a one-to-one basis. I believe art in all its different forms, to be an essential and necessary part of being human, enhancing lives of artists those who view artwork. It is always very satisfying and exciting to be involved in facilitating others to enjoy their creative potential.
