The inspiration for my imagery is diverse and stems from the stuff of my life and it’s varied facets and diversions, how I meet the world. As an artist each work is a challenge to distil the essence of what first inspired me.
I love the materiality and qualities of oil paint and ink, the endless possibilities of how the surface can be manipulated to create an atmosphere or a narrative for the viewer.
I grew up in a family of professional artists. I was fortunate to have the technical experience and conversation of art around me with canvases and oil paint covering any available surface, especially when my mother marked art exam papers.
I have studied at the Slade, worked with the portrait painter Martin Brooks and with Mike Glanville.
I’ve been a regular exhibitor at Salcombe Art Club for many years and at other local galleries and exhibitions including Harbour House and Lantic Gallery in Tiverton.
