Steve Kenna

In the last decade I have intensified my exploration of painting in oils, acrylics, inks and watercolour. These various mediums bring to the surface my principal strengths of draughtsmanship and a unique and varied mark making.

I am also an established professional artist and tutor, and my practice may also embrace print-making techniques of copper and aluminium etching, contemporary photopolymer gravure, dynamic monotype printing and Gold Leaf/gilding works.

In terms of ‘style’ my work is seen as eclectic though while the influences I draw on are predominantly the rich artistic traditions within the British Isles, the formal construction, approach, and expressive mark-making are very broad in scope. The human figure will always be one of the central narrative elements in my work, even when the subject matter may not explicitly reference it.
