Deb Rickard

am a member of the Salcombe Art Club and the South Hams Art Forum. I have been painting in oil, watercolour and acrylic for many years, whilst also spending some years studying ceramics. Since moving to Devon’s South Hams, however, I’ve been painting mainly in oil and acrylic. My subject matter is often seascapes; exploring ways of depicting the stunning interplay light on water which we see so frequently in this part of the country.

I also enjoy painting the fjords and glaciers of Norway where I have family. In these paintings I tend to use a rather abstract style with a limited, largely grisaille palette with hints of colour to capture the cool light.

In all my paintings I try to evoke some sort of emotion, often drawing on the emotional uplift that, for me, the sight of sunlight on water conjures.

I hope you enjoy my paintings and perhaps experience some kind of reflective thought or emotional uplift yourself.

My work is held in national and international private collections, and if you would like to see more you can find me on Instagram @debrickardart
