Maggie Smith
Maggie is a painter, printmaker and workshop teacher who is constantly inspired by the sea, surrounding natural landscape, nature and her garden.
Having trained as a primary school teacher many years ago, she specialised in Ceramics at college and also taught educational dance in schools around Oxfordshire, before moving to the South Hams and settling just outside Kingsbridge twenty years ago.
Working in a variety of mediums, ranging from large mixed media pieces to small intricate printmaking, Maggie produces work from an emotional response to things, a scene, or a moment in time, which captures her imagination and res up her creativity. Some of her printmaking designs are on mugs, tea towels, cards and stationery which she sells from her studio and on her website.
Maggie exhibits locally in galleries and has recently set up Devon Makers Markets, with fellow printmaker Emma Cook. She also runs workshops in her studio during the year.
Visitors are welcome to her rural studio [ in Goveton ] by appointment.
