Jane Ellis

Artist plantsman living on the edge of dartmoor.

i walk
i see colour
i paint

My work is very much a revealing of my life, the layers and traces of the past, and emotional responses to daily events. It is in one way my private diary.

My paintings are a journey of discovery sitting between the outside life i live and who i am. Sometimes this process is a way of re-discovering lost memories , buried deep .

So, via this process , every mark, colour, or shape, however subtle hold the traces of what has passed.

Making art is all about breathing out what is inside , it is a eeting moment in a timeless space

The energy of nature invites me to paint, creates a space in which to immerse myself, the place, my emotions to reveal the submerged, presences that underlie existence.

“i only went out for a walk, and nally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out , i found, was really going in” -john muir
