Geoff Sellick

Geoff’s has spent most of his life living between Dartmoor and the Devon coast, his paintings are inspired by the ever-changing light and colour of the surrounding countryside.

They are painted intuitively, empowering the viewer to interpret their own imagery and stories.

Applying layers of oil and a cold wax mix and creating textures using rollers, spatulas, and palette knives, areas are then often scraped away to reveal the colours and spaces below.

The peace and quiet of the moors, the tranquillity and ebb and flow of the sea water as it breaks on the beach, the movement of the ever-changing estuaries and quickly changing weather are all abstracted into an impressionistic style filled with colour and
vibrancy.

A designer by profession having spent more than 35 years working in architecture, interiors, and furniture design, Geoff finds that painting is a way of breaking free from the rigidity and practicalities of his previous profession.

Geoff exhibits his work throughout the year at Furzeleigh Living in Buckfastleigh, a small gallery he established a few years ago. Alongside his own pieces, the gallery offers ethically produced design products and showcases work by craftspeople he sources both locally and internationally.

Despite only having painted for less than four years Geoff has already exhibited in many Devon exhibitions and Galleries and has work in many private collections.
