Deb Rickard

I am a full member of the Salcombe Art Club and the South Hams Art Forum (SHAF). I have been painting in oil, watercolour and acrylic for many years whilst also spending some years studying ceramics. Since moving to Devon’s South Hams however, I’ve been concentrating on painting; mainly in oil and acrylic. I like to explore ways of depicting the interplay of light on water, which can be so dramatic; both here on the coast and on inland waterways.

I also enjoy painting the fjords and glaciers of Norway where I have family. In these paintings I tend to use a rather abstract style with a limited, largely grisaille palette with hints of colour to capture the cool light.

In all my paintings I like to evoke some kind of emotion or thought, often drawing on the spiritual uplift that for me, the sight of sunlight on water conjures. I hope you enjoy my paintings and perhaps also experience some kind of reflective thought or emotional uplift.
