Beth Cave

My enjoyment of the sea informs my perspective and use of colour. I fragment shape and colour, spraying and glazing to create transparent layers of organic movement. My marks are made intuitively in response to the light and moods of the South Devon coast I know intimately. In the Caribbean I use rapid bold marks to create colourful pieces of high contrast. My aim is for greater ambiguity which communicates the beauty and character of the places I love. The result is deeply atmospheric paintings with a powerful sense of place.
