Bernice Johnston

I was born in Bristol and after school trained as a cartographical draughtsman for South Western Electricity Board and The Central Generating Board obtaining my Ordinary National Certificate in Electrical Engineering during this time.

After moving to East Portlemouth in 1966 and raising a family I spent many years as a Signwriter, so my careers have always been involved with drawing although I have had no formal art training.

My preferred medium to begin with was Pen and Ink moving on to Watercolour to loosen up, then Pastel and lastly the indulgent medium of Oil which I love.

Living and working in such a stunningly beautiful area provides a never ending supply of material for any artist. I feel very lucky to be one of them.
