Colour Theory and Mixing for Artists (Weekend Workshop)

A two- day weekend workshop putting colour theory through its paces. It is a course suitable for complete beginners and those who want a refresher course using colour theory in a practical way. We will explore the various ways we perceive colour, looking at examples in paintings and practicing mixing of colours (you do not need oil painting experience- if you can butter a piece of bread, you will be ok). The workshop will include practical exercises using colour swatches to identify the different characteristics of colours.

During the weekend there will be demonstrations on how to use oil paints and how to mix them. By the end of the course students will have produced a colour chart for future reference.

We will start at 10am and finish at 4pm each day.

A list of materials to bring will be sent to students before the course starts.
