DESCRIPTION:Starting On-location we will get warmed up with line and shape drawing—capturing Salcombe scenes\, hills\, boats through fast gestural sketches. \nBack in the studio: experimenting with simplifying and abstracting forms and Colour studies inspired by what we have seen. Combining simplified shapes into semi-abstract compositions. Aiming for a final piece if possible but no pressure. Enjoy! \n \nYou will need: \n\nSketch book – A3 or A4\nPaints\, acrylic or water-based oils for ease of drying.\nBrushes and pallet knife.\nOld rags / cloths / kitchen paper for wiping brushes.\nApron if needed.\nPencils & oil pastels for sketching. SUMMARY:Photomontage (One Day Workshop)
DESCRIPTION:A brief introduction followed by going into making small photomontages using cut and paste to get a feel for the medium and its possibilities. There will also be a visual presentation to show how photomontage began as we know it in the early 20th Century in movements like Dada and Cubism. Then we move on to making a bigger\, more considered piece which can be a free exploration or to explore a theme / idea like personal history / family photos or historical / political themes or any other subject which interests you. This is also where we can bring in drawing and painting to make mixed media imagery. \n \nYou will need: \n\nOne small sketch book A4 or 5\nOne larger sketch book A3 or loose sheets of A3\nGlue e.g. Pritt Stick\nScissors\nWater based paint you like to use e.g. watercolour\, gouache etc.\nPencils and brushes\nPrinted photographic imagery you would like to use in photomontages\, which you are happy to cut up i.e. bring copies of precious originals.\n\nAny questions please contact Ann Chester King – annchesterking@gmail.com
