They illustrate different approaches to printmaking though both involve making marks on a printing plate. With Linocut the image is made on the surface of the lino or vinyl plate (in relief); in Drypoint the image is cut or scratched into the metal or plastic plate (Intaglio). Inking of the plates differs too\, typically a roller is used to apply ink to the Lino plate and a card or squeegee for the Drypoint. Within each technique there are many variations and each lends itself to particular types of image and artistic styles. \nThe workshop will cover the basics of each technique including image selection\, plate making and inking and look at some of the possibilities each offers.
