DESCRIPTION:Rod is a woodblock printmaker who finds that the balance between art and craft that is inherent in printmaking is a major stimulation to invention and playful creativity. His work has been shown at the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair\, the Royal Academy\, the Royal West of England Academy and major galleries around the world. He is co- author of the book ‘Making Woodblock Prints’ and is a member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers. As a complete beginner or an experienced printmaker\, you will find this ancient technique a wonderful vehicle for creative expression . \nNo previous experience required for this course and all are welcome. All tools will be provided for your use during the course. \n10.15am – 5pm on Saturday and Sunday\, 10.15am – 3.30pm on Monday \n \nPlease bring with you £20 for all your ink\, wood and proofing paper. SUMMARY:Exploring the use of Source Material (Mondays for Four Weeks)
DESCRIPTION:Exploring the use of source material\, whether it be photographs\, sketches and studies\, memories or ideas\, this course will help us recognize what is driving our desire to paint something. Understanding the intent\, and how to use and translate the source material to achieve it\, helps us communicate more effectively with the viewer and induce a response in them. Whether there is a story or narrative element\, a celebration of observation\, or the creation of a mood or atmosphere\, using the material tools and the skills we have at our disposal will help us to create our best work. \n \nYou should bring your preferred painting media and I will send an appropriate email a few days before each class as the course progresses. \nkarenpophamartist.com \nkarenpophamartist@googlemail.com \n
